Pelarco, Maule Region, Chile
Forestal Yukón, a timber company specializing in Pinus radiata processing and the production of pallets, bins, and construction materials, faced the challenge of operating its biomass-powered drying processes while complying with environmental regulations on particulate matter emissions.
Using biomass as an energy source aligns with the company's forestry and production philosophy. However, it required a solution capable of continuously reducing PM2.5 and PM10 emissions without compromising industrial efficiency or drying times, particularly in Chile's Maule Region, where air quality is an important environmental concern.
We designed and implemented a Filtrovivo® industrial plant-based biofiltration system connected to the main drying boiler, specifically engineered to accommodate actual airflow rates, flue gas temperatures, and operating conditions.
The system integrates:
The solution allowed Forestal Yukón to maintain biomass as its primary energy source while integrating living environmental infrastructure into the heart of its industrial operations.
